Sweden's Robert Karlsson withdrew from the British Open on Wednesday, saying he was not ready to play.

"Just pulled out of the British Open," Karlsson tweeted. "Have got into some bad habits in my game and routine that I need to address. Taking a few weeks off."

Karlsson was not replaced in the field, which had been one player over its normal size of 156.

Another player, Richard Finch, took Karlsson's tee time and will play in a threesome with Mark Wilson and Branden Grace.

The three remaining players who had been matched in twosomes because of the overstocked field -- Barry Lane, James Driscoll and Garth Mulroy -- are now a threesome.
