Cincinnati, OH – Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto had arthroscopic surgery Tuesday to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee.
He was placed on the 15-day disabled list and will be sidelined for 3-to-4 weeks.
The 2010 National League MVP originally hurt the knee during a June 29 game against the Giants when he slid into third base.
Votto, who this year was named to his third All-Star team, has a .342 batting average to go with 14 homers and 49 RBI in 86 games this season.
The Reds recalled pitcher Todd Redmond from Triple-A Louisville.
