The San Diego Padres placed pitcher Anthony Bass on the 15-day disabled list on Sunday, retroactive to June 21, with right shoulder inflammation.

Bass, 24, made his first career Opening Day start for the Padres this season and in 16 games -- 14 starts -- the right-hander has gone 2-7 with a 4.70 earned-run average.

To fill the roster spot, the club reinstated infielder Andy Parrino from the 15-day DL. Parrino, 26, has been on the DL since June 3 due to a ligament sprain in his right wrist.

In 39 games for San Diego this season, Parrino has hit .176 with four doubles, one home run, three RBI and seven runs scored.
