Arlington, TX – The Houston Astros placed pitcher Wilton Lopez on the 15-day disabled list Friday due to a sprained right elbow.
Lopez has appeared in 32 games for the Astros this year and holds a 3-0 record with a 2.51 earned run average in 32 1/3 innings. The right-hander has struck out 26 batters while walking just four.
The Astros also activated pitcher Fernando Abad from the DL. In 15 appearances for Houston this season, Abad has pitched nine innings and given up five runs.
