Former Notre Dame wide receiver Deion Walker has transferred to the University of Massachusetts.

Walker, who was a redshirt as a true freshman in 2008, will be eligible to play for the school this season, using his fifth year of eligibility.

"We are very excited about having Deion join us for the upcoming season," said Minutemen head coach Charley Molnar. "Having worked with Deion at Notre Dame, he is a terrific person and will make the most of this opportunity. Along with Hafis Williams and Michael Cox, Deion will also be able to make an immediate impact on the program -- both on and off the field."

Walker played in seven games for the Irish from 2009-11.

After years in the Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA), Massachusetts will begin FBS play in the Mid-American Conference this coming September.
