The Kansas City Royals placed pitcher Felipe Paulino on the 15-day disabled list on Saturday, retroactive to June 7.

Paulino was forced to leave his start against the Minnesota Twins on June 6 in the first inning after suffering a strained right groin covering first base on a Justin Morneau pop up.

Paulino, 28, is 3-1 this season with a 1.67 earned run average in 37 2/3 innings. In his career, he is 13-32 with a 4.93 ERA with the Royals, Colorado Rockies and Houston Astros.

Kansas City recalled pitcher Nathan Adcock to take Paulino's place on the roster. Adcock is 0-3 with a 3.74 ERA with the Royals this season.
