Paris, France – The draw for the 2013 Fed Cup World Group was held Wednesday at Roland Garros in Paris and the United States will go on the road to meet Italy in February.
The U.S. lost to the Italians in back-to-back Fed Cup finals in 2009 and 2010.
Should the Americans defeat Italy this time around (February 9-10), they would either host the Czech Republic or travel to Australia for the semifinals.
After falling out of the World Group last year for the first time ever in the 49-year history of the competition, the 17-time champion U.S. will once again contend for the Fed Cup title in 2013 after defeating both Belarus in the 2012 World Group II first round and Ukraine in the World Group playoff by 5-0 margins.
