Blue Jackets re-sign MacKenzie

Columbus, OH – The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed center Derek MacKenzie to a two-year contract.

MacKenzie had seven goals and seven assists in a career-high 66 games with the Blue Jackets last season.

"We are very pleased to have re-signed Derek as he is a versatile and reliable player with a tremendous work ethic who brings energy to our team" said general manager Scott Howson.

Originally selected by the Atlanta Thrashers in the fifth round of the 1999 draft, MacKenzie has registered 19 goals and 26 assists in 193 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets and Thrashers.
