Wolfsburg manager Felix Magath signed a two-year contract extension on Wednesday that ties him to the club until 2015.

Magath guided Wolfsburg to the 2008-09 Bundesliga title in his first spell at the club before leaving for Schalke. He then returned last March for a second stint and has now locked up his future for the next few seasons.

Wolfsburg finished this past campaign in eighth place in the league table, and the club's chairman, Dr. Francisco Javier Garcia Sanz, believes Magath is the right coach to help Wolfsburg return to a place in European competition.

"We believe in continuity and with Magath we are on the right track," Dr. Sanz said. "Under him the club had its most successful period. The early contract extension is an expression of our confidence.

"With Felix Magath we can achieve both our short-term goals, such as the battle for European Cup places next year, as well as take the long-term view."
