Couples, Price named captains for 2013 Presidents Cup

Dublin, Ohio – Fred Couples and Nick Price have been named the captains of the United States and International teams, respectively, for the 2013 Presidents Cup.

That year's Presidents Cup is scheduled to be held September 30 to October 6 at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Ohio. The club becomes the third U.S. golf course to host the biennial match-play competition. It has previously hosted the Ryder Cup and Solheim Cup.

Couples has twice before been captain of the U.S. team, leading the squad to victories in 2009 and 2011. A 15-time PGA Tour winner and the 1992 Masters champion, Couples was a Presidents Cup competitor four times.

"It's an amazing honor to be selected to serve as U.S. Team captain again in 2013," said Couples. "It's safe to say that The Presidents Cup has been a huge part of my career and my life, from playing in four events to my experiences in 2009 and 2011 as captain. Those memories are unforgettable, and I feel extremely fortunate to get another chance to be a part of The Presidents Cup when we go for a third-straight victory, this time at Muirfield Village Golf Club, which is one of my favorite venues. And congrats to Nick on his selection as International team captain. He's a great friend, and I know he'll also be a great leader."

Price has never been a Presidents Cup captain, but has competed for the International team five times. The Hall of Famer owns an extensive list of golfing accomplishments that includes 18 PGA Tour wins and three major victories.

"I am both honored and excited to have been selected as the International Team captain for The Presidents Cup 2013 at Muirfield Village," Price said. "Ever since playing in the inaugural Presidents Cup in 1994, it has been an event that has meant so much to me, and I have looked forward to the opportunity of captaining what I know will be a very strong International team."

Couples and Price faced each other as Presidents Cup competitors twice during the 1994 edition. Couples and Davis Love III defeated Price and Bradley Hughes in day one of four-ball matches, while Couples beat Price during the singles portion of the competition.

The United States has gone 7-1-1 in the Presidents Cup, and won by a 19-15 margin last November thanks to a 5-0-0 performance by Jim Furyk and a clinching victory by Tiger Woods over Aaron Baddeley.
