Pittsburgh, PA – The Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday placed pitcher Juan Cruz on the restricted list.
Cruz is returning home to the Dominican Republic so he can attend to some personal business.
In 20 appearances out of the bullpen this year, Cruz is 1-1 with a 1.45 ERA.
The Pirates called up pitcher Doug Slaten from Triple-A Indianapolis. Slaten was 2-0 with eight saves and a 0.36 ERA in 20 games this season for Indianapolis.
