The Baltimore Orioles signed relief pitcher J.C. Romero to a minor-league contract on Thursday.

Romero will report to Triple-A Norfolk.

The St. Louis Cardinals released the left hander on May 14 after he posted a 10.13 ERA in 11 appearances with the team. Romero allowed 14 hits, two walks and three home runs in eight innings in St. Louis. He struck out five.

In 14 major league seasons, the 35-year-old Romero is 34-28 with a 4.15 ERA with four teams.
