New York Rangers forward Brandon Prust was suspended one game for elbowing New Jersey Devils defenseman Anton Volchenkov in the head during Saturday's Eastern Conference final Game 3.

At the 2:31 mark of the second period, Volchenkov collected a loose puck to the right of his net and skated around to the left corner. Prust met Volchenkov in the corner just after Volchenkov had passed the puck and threw up his right elbow to the back of Volchenkov's head.

Senior vice president of player safety and hockey operations Brendan Shanahan said Prust "recklessly elbowed" Volchenkov in the back of the head.

Volchenkov was shaken up on the play but finished the game and did not suffer an injury.
