Chicago, IL – When the Marlins lured Mark Buehrle from Chicago, they envisioned his helping the team win its first division title in franchise history. Instead, they'll have to settle for his halting of long losing streaks. With the Marlins mired in another awful June and a six-game losing streak, Buehrle pitched seven shutout innings to help the Marlins salvage the last of their three-game series with the Blue Jays, 9-0. After a 21-8 record in May, the Marlins entered Sunday's play with only four wins in 20 June games to drop into last place in the NL East. They managed their best offensive output of the month, however, after some help from home runs by John Buck and Greg Dobbs. Buehrle (6-8) stopped a personal four-start losing streak with seven strikeouts while allowing seven hits, and the Marlins matched the five wins they posted last June, when the team lost 23 games during the worst month in team history. The Marlins had gone 25 games without scoring more than five runs in a game, the longest stretch in franchise history. It's the first time since May 25 they've had an offensive result such as this. Colby Rasmus had a pair of hits for the Blue Jays, who had won six of their previous eight games. Jesse Chavez (0-1) was doomed by a couple bad innings, yielding six runs and seven hits in six frames.

Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - Josh Willingham crushed a go-ahead two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning to lift the Twins to a 4-3 triumph over the Reds in the rubber match of a three-game series Sunday at Great American Ball Park. Joey Votto gave the Reds a 3-2 lead with a two-run blast in the bottom of the eighth, but Aroldis Chapman (4-4) was unable to hold the Twins down in the ninth. Joe Mauer ripped a one-out double to set the table for Willingham, who belted a fastball deep into the left-field seats to give the Twins a one-run lead. Jared Burton, who pitched for the Reds from 2007-11, retired Cincinnati in the ninth to record the first save of his career. Scott Diamond (6-3) got the win in the longest outing of his career after tossing eight innings and giving up three runs on eight hits with a career-high seven strikeouts. Wilson Valdez finished with two hits, including an RBI single, but the Reds lost for the fifth time in their last six games.

Baltimore, MD (Sports Network) - Matt Wieters crushed the go-ahead two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning, and the Baltimore Orioles edged the Washington Nationals, 2-1, in the rubber match of the Beltway Series at Camden Yards. Pedro Strop (4-2) picked up the win after getting the final out in the top of the eighth. Jim Johnson notched his 22nd save of the season with a scoreless ninth for the O's, who had lost four of five coming in. Baltimore starter Jake Arrieta pitched well in six innings, allowing one run on five hits with five strikeouts and walk. Ryan Zimmerman knocked in the only Washington run with an RBI single and Bryce Harper added a pair of hits for the Nats in defeat. Sean Burnett (0-1) suffered the loss after allowing Wieters' long ball. Starter Ross Detwiler tossed five scoreless innings and allowed four hits and two walks with three strikeouts, but had to settle for the no-decision.

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Brooks Conrad hit a pair of doubles and knocked in four runs to lead the Tampa Bay Rays past the Philadelphia Phillies, 7-3, and sweep a day-night doubleheader. Tampa Bay won the early contest, 3-2, behind Carlos Pena's three-run homer and seven innings of one- run ball from starter David Price. Ben Zobrist added two hits and three runs scored while Sean Rodriguez had an RBI and scored twice for the Rays, who snapped a three-game slide earlier on Sunday. Cesar Ramos made his first start since October 4, 2009 with San Diego and tossed 2 2/3 innings, allowing three walks and no hits. Brandon Gomes (2-2) received the win with 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief. Cliff Lee (0-4) remained winless on the season by allowing five runs on six hits and three walks over a seven-inning start for Philadelphia, which lost for the third time in four games.

Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Justin Verlander went the distance for the fourth time this season as the Detroit Tigers topped the Pittsburgh Pirates, 3-2, in the finale of a three-game interleague set at PNC Park. Verlander (8-4), who dazzled Pittsburgh hitters for six frames until he surrendered a two-homer in the seventh, allowed just five hits and struck out seven to get his third consecutive win. Quintin Berry hit a two-run homer and scored the winning run on a Delmon Young single in the eighth, and Austin Jackson had a pair of hits and scored once for the Tigers, who avoided the three-game sweep. Chris Resop (0-3) was pegged with the loss after giving up Young's RBI single. Kevin Correia started for Pittsburgh and gave up two runs on six hits and fanned four over six innings.

Boston, MA (Sports Network) - Cody Ross hit a three-run and two-run home run as the Boston Red Sox took a 9-4 win over the Atlanta Braves in the rubber match of a three-game series on Sunday. Ross' day overshadowed what was the final appearance of third baseman Kevin Youkilis in a Boston uniform. After the game, Youkilis was traded to the Chicago White Sox for pitcher Zach Stewart along with infielder Brent Lillibridge. Youkilis had been benched the past three games as the 33-year-old has struggled much of the season. However, he went 2- for-4 with an RBI on Sunday and received two standing ovations. The first one was in the second inning prior to his at- bat in which he singled. The second ovation was awarded to him following his RBI triple in the seventh that saw him pulled from the game. On the season, his ninth in the majors and all of them with Boston, Youkilis is batting just .233 with four home runs and 14 RBI. Aaron Cook (1-1), making the spot start in place of an injured Clay Buchholz, went five innings and gave up three runs -- two earned -- on six hits over five innings for the Red Sox, who have won seven of their last eight.

Houston, TX (Sports Network) - J.A. Happ continued a strong run of Houston pitching with seven sharp innings, and the Houston Astros used a late power surge to beat the Cleveland Indians, 7-1, and win the three-game series. Happ (6-7), who has recorded each of his six victories at home, made sure the Astros allowed two or fewer runs for the fifth straight game. The lefty yielded only one run on four hits, although Houston has won only two of the aforementioned five. Chris Johnson and J.D. Martinez both homered in a four- run eighth inning for the Astros. Derek Lowe (7-6) dropped his third straight decision and fifth out of six for the Indians, who gave up 15 runs in the last two games after Friday's shutout. Casey Kotchman had a pair of hits in defeat.

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Eduardo Escobar broke a scoreless tie with a game-winning pinch-hit single to center, lifting the White Sox to a 1-0 victory over the Brewers in the finale of a three-game set Sunday at U.S. Cellular Field. Alejandro De Aza ripped a leadoff double into the left- field corner off of Manny Parra (0-2) to start the 10th. Adam Dunn worked a walk two batters later before Escobar smacked a pinch-hit single to center, scoring De Aza from second to give the White Sox the series victory. Brian Bruney (1-0) got the win after retiring the Brewers in the 10th. Jose Quintana fired eight scoreless innings in the start for Chicago, but did not factor in the decision. Milwaukee starter Mike Fiers spun 7 1/3 scoreless frames and struck out seven, while Corey Hart and Aramis Ramirez each registered two hits for the Brewers, who dropped the final two games of the series after taking the first game with a 1-0 win in 10 innings on Friday.

Kansas City, MO (Sports Network) - Carlos Beltran hit a three-run homer and the St. Louis Cardinals beat the Kansas City Royals, 11-8, to complete a three-game series sweep. Yadier Molina added a solo homer for the Cardinals, who recorded their first three-game sweep in Kansas City since 2009. Allen Craig and Matt Holliday each had two RBI and two runs scored. St. Louis starter Lance Lynn allowed six runs on nine hits over 5 1/3 innings. Victor Marte (1-1) recorded the final two outs in the sixth to pick up the win. Mike Moustakas hit a pair of home runs for the Royals, who were outscored by a 30-14 margin over the three games. Billy Butler and Jeff Francoeur also homered. Jonathan Sanchez gave up six runs on four hits over 5 2/3 frames. He walked six and struck out three. Tim Collins (4-2) allowed five runs -- four earned -- on three hits over 1 2/3 innings to take the loss.

Garrett Richards gave up three runs on nine hits with two walks and five strikeouts in the start for the Angels, who have won four of five. Scott Downs (1-0) got the win for tossing one inning of scoreless ball. Dee Gordon had two hits and drove in a run for the Dodgers, who have lost five of their last six games. Aaron Harang gave up three runs on eight hits over six innings in the start and Josh Lindblom (2-2) was charged with the loss after giving up two runs in the seventh.

San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - Edinson Volquez tossed 6 2/3 scoreless innings on Sunday and the San Diego Padres blanked the Seattle Mariners, 2-0, in the finale of a three-game interleague series at Petco Park. Volquez (4-7) allowed four hits with three walks and four strikeouts to notch the win. Joe Thatcher got the final out of the seventh, Luke Gregerson pitched a scoreless eighth and Huston Street recorded his 10th save of the season with a clean ninth inning. Alexi Amarista provided the only offense of the day with a two-run, ground- rule double for the Padres, who had lost four of their last five contests entering play on Sunday. Mark Kotsay went 3-for-3 in the triumph. Hector Noesi (2-9) allowed two runs on seven hits with six strikeouts and three walks over six innings. He also went 2-for-2 at the plate for the Mariners, who have dropped three of four.

Oakland, CA (Sports Network) - Derek Norris' three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth lifted the Oakland Athletics over the San Francisco Giants, 4-2, on Sunday. Yoenis Cespedes and Brandon Inge both singled before Norris crushed a 3-2 fastball into the seats in left-center field. Norris' first-career homer helped the A's avoid a three-game sweep in the Bay Bridge series. Jimmy Miller (2-0) earned the win after throwing 1 1/3 shutout innings. A.J. Griffin, who made his major league debut, gave up two runs on three hits and struck out four over six-plus innings. Griffin retired 13 straight after giving up a two-out hit in the second. Coco Crisp doubled and scored and Josh Reddick drove in a for the A's, who have won nine of their last 12. Santiago Casilla (1-3) was pegged with the loss after giving up the Norris homer. Matt Cain started for the Giants and allowed one run on three hits and struck out seven. Buster Posey hit a two-run homer and Ryan Theriot had two hits and scored a run for San Francisco, which has lost five of eight.

Arlington, TX (Sports Network) - Matt Harrison worked five scoreless innings on Sunday and the Texas Rangers held on to knock off the Colorado Rockies, 4-2, in the finale of a three-game interleague series at Rangers Ballpark. Harrison (10-3) struck out three and walked two while allowing just five hits to earn the win. Robbie Ross, Tanner Scheppers and Mike Adams each threw a scoreless inning of relief before Joe Nathan allowed two runs in the ninth, but finished off the victory for the Rangers, who have won eight of their last nine games. Leonys Martin went 2-for-4 with a two-run triple and an RBI double, and Elvis Andrus added an RBI double in the win. Marco Scutaro ripped an RBI single and Carlos Gonzalez chipped in with an RBI on a sacrifice fly for the Rockies, losers in six of their previous eight contests. Alex White (2-6) yielded four runs on six hits with three strikeouts and four walks in just 2 2/3 innings to absorb the loss.

Flushing, NY (Sports Network) - Robinson Cano's home run in the top of the eighth inning lifted the New York Yankees over the New York Mets, 6-5, in the rubber match of the Subway Series at Citi Field. Nick Swisher added a three- run homer while Mark Teixeira brought home a pair of runs for the Yankees, who took the last two games of this series on the heels of a three-game losing streak. Boone Logan (2-0) earned the win with 1 1/3 perfect innings in relief of CC Sabathia, who allowed five runs -- one earned -- on nine hits and two walks over 5 2/3 innings. Rafael Soriano worked around a two-out single in the ninth to secure his 15th save of the season. Miguel Batista (1-2) gave up Cano's game-deciding home run to take the loss for the Mets. Mets starter R.A. Dickey had won his last six starts and was coming off consecutive one-hitters, but was touched for five runs on five hits and three walks over a five-inning start.
