The Philadelphia Phillies placed pitcher Vance Worley on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow inflammation.

The move is retroactive to May 12.

Worley was scheduled to start Wednesday's game against the Cubs in Chicago. Kyle Kendrick gets the nod in his place.

The 24-year-old Worley has made seven starts for the Phillies this season, going 3-2 with a 3.07 earned run average. The bespectacled right-hander has recorded 45 strikeouts to 15 walks in 44 innings.

To fill Worley's spot on the 25-man roster, the Phillies recalled lefty Joe Savery from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. A former first-round pick, Savery, 26, has compiled a 4.50 ERA in eight appearances for Philadelphia this year.
