Bucs sign WR Underwood

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed wide receiver Tiquan Underwood to a two-year contract.

Underwood played collegiately at Rutgers under new Bucs coach Greg Schiano. He becomes the seventh former Scarlet Knight on the roster and the fifth to be acquired since Schiano took over.

The three-year veteran may best be known for being released by the New England Patriots the day before the Super Bowl in February. The Patriots dropped him from the 53-man roster to make room for defensive end Alex Silvestro.

New England re-signed Underwood a few days later, but released him earlier this month just prior to signing receiver Jabar Gaffney.

In six games last season with the Patriots, Underwood caught three passes for 30 yards. He spent his first two NFL seasons with Jacksonville and has 11 career receptions for 141 yards in 19 games.

The Buccaneers waived defensive tackle Myles Wade to open a roster spot for Underwood.
