Lille striker Tulio De Melo has signed a new contract that ties him to the club until 2014.

The Brazilian joined Lille from Le Mans in 2008, and with his previous deal set to expire in June, the club has stepped up and secured his services for the next two seasons.

De Melo, 27, has battled injuries throughout the season that have limited him to 14 appearances. A shin injury early in the campaign was followed by a torn hamstring which kept him out for much of the first half of the season.

But De Melo has bounced back from his injury woes to score three goals in Lille's last two games to give the club an outside chance at retaining its title.
