Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Alex Gonzalez left Saturday's 5-2 loss to the San Francisco Giants in the second inning after injuring his right knee.

Gonzalez ripped an RBI single into center field, but was hurt sliding into second base when his knee buckled as he reached the bag. He immediately slammed his helmet on the infield dirt and called for Brewers medical personnel.

He had to be carried off the field by manager Ron Roenicke and head athletic trainer Dan Wright. The team later said that Gonzalez will undergo an MRI and be evaluated further.

Gonzalez's injury is the latest in a slew of setbacks for the Brewers, who also announced on Saturday that speedy center fielder Carlos Gomez will be placed on the 15-day disabled list after suffering a left hamstring strain in Friday's win over the Giants.
