The Kansas City Royals optioned pitcher Everett Teaford to Triple-A Omaha on Saturday and recalled pitcher Nate Adcock from the minor league club.

Teaford was given a spot start on Friday in place of an injured Danny Duffy and went the first four innings in a no-decision against Minnesota. He was tagged for four runs on eight hits and two walks.

The lefty had also thrown seven innings in two relief appearances prior to the start, and has a 5.73 earned run average with an 0-1 record in three games this season.

Adcock was 3-1 with a 1.37 ERA in four starts at Omaha, but is slated to be used out of the Royals' bullpen. The 24-year-old right-hander made 24 appearances, including three starts, for Kansas City last season and was 1-1 with one save and a 4.62 ERA.
