List on top at South Georgia Classic

Valdosta, GA – Luke List carded a four-under 68 on Friday to climb to the top of the leaderboard after two rounds of the South Georgia Classic.

List finished 36 holes at nine-under-par 135, and holds a one-stroke advantage over Brian Stuard, who sits at eight-under after shooting a 69 during round two at Kinderlou Forest Golf Club.

Monday qualifier Sihwan Kim (70), Ryan Zabroske (67) and Will MacKenzie (67) share third place at minus-seven.

First-round leader Robert Streb struggled to a one-over 73 and dropped to five-under, putting him in a tie for 10th.

A late bogey on Thursday prevented List from grabbing a part of the first- round lead, but he used another successful round to head into the weekend in first place.

After beginning his round Friday with three consecutive pars, he birdied four and five to get to minus-seven.

List held at that score around the turn, but he birdied three of his first four holes on the back nine. The last, at the par-five 13th, put him at 10- under.

He stumbled to another late bogey -- this one at the 17th -- but still had enough cushion to hang onto the lead by the time Friday's round ended. The 27- year-old has never won on the Nationwide Tour, but has six career top-10s, including two this season.

List's best finish of the year came in early March, when he was a runner-up at the Panama Claro Championship.

"I'm not frustrated. I've been looking forward to this year. I've been out here a few years now and I feel like I'm one of the better players out here now and it's my time," List stated. "I really feel that way. I'm just trying to be confident and go from there."

Stuard, who is also seeking his first Nationwide Tour victory, began his round on the back nine and birdied the 13th before bogeying the 14th. But that was his final bogey of the day, while birdies at 16, four and five got him to eight-under.

Zabroske birdied his second hole to get to minus-three, but didn't pull himself into contention until a three-birdie run around the turn. He rolled in two more birdies at 13 and 14 to reach eight-under, but bogeyed the last.

MacKenzie had a strong opening to his round, with a birdie at 10 and an eagle at 11. The rest of his back nine included six pars and a bogey at 14, but he rebounded with a clean front nine, with birdies at four, five and eight.

Kim didn't have the kind of success he did Thursday, but still managed to go below par to stay near the top of the leaderboard. He had a bogey and two birdies on both the back and front nine.

NOTES: The 36-hole cut fell at even-par 144. Those to miss it included two- time U.S. Open winner Lee Janzen (147), Andres Gonzales (147) and Alex Aragon (146). Gonzales and Aragon won the last two events on the Nationwide Tour calendar...Tom Hoge and Woody Austin both carded six-under 66s, the low round Friday. Hoge is tied for 11th, while Austin is tied for 17th at minus- four...Martin Piller, Justin Searles and Shawn Koch withdrew on Friday.
