St. Petersburg, FL – The Tampa Bay Rays claimed outfielder Brandon Allen off waivers from the Oakland Athletics on Thursday.
Allen has spent parts of four season in the majors with Arizona and Oakland and in 109 games he has 11 home runs and 38 RBI with a .205 average.
To make room for Allen on the 40-man roster, the team transferred catcher Robinson Chirinos from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day DL.
