Philadelphia, PA – PGA TOUR - TEXAS OPEN, TPC San Antonio (AT&T Oaks Course), San Antonio, Texas - The PGA returns to Texas for the second time in four weeks for the Texas Open.
Brendan Steele managed a one-under 71 in the final round to win his first PGA Tour event by a single stroke over Charley Hoffman and Kevin Chappell.
Steele converted a six-foot par putt at the last to hang on for the win. Steele has struggled this year with five missed cuts. He hasn't played the weekend since the Honda Classic and has just one top-five finish this year.
This will be the 82nd Texas Open and for the second straight year, the field will be lacking in star power. Last year, then world No. 17 Adam Scott was the top player in the field and this week, world No. 15 Matt Kuchar is the top- ranked competitor.
Amateur star Jordan Spieth will be making his fifth PGA Tour start at TPC San Antonio. He has played the Byron Nelson Championship the last two years and tied for 16th and 32nd.
Spieth missed the cut in his other two tour events, the 2010 St. Jude Classic and this year's Northern Trust Open.
This will be the third straight year at TPC San Antonio.
Golf Channel has the action on Thursday and Friday before CBS takes over on the weekend.
The tour heads to Louisiana next week for the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, where newly crowned Masters champion Bubba Watson will defend his title.
EUROPEAN TOUR
CHINA OPEN, Binhai Lake Golf Club, Tianjin, China - The European Tour is in the middle week of a three-week stint in Asia.
Nicolas Colsaerts fired four rounds in the 60s last year to cruise to a four- stroke win at the China Open. The win was his first on the European Tour.
Colsaerts has yet to win again, but he has four top-10 finishes in eight worldwide starts this year. He shared 29th place last week in Malaysia.
Much like the PGA Tour event in Texas, the field this week is lacking many of the biggest names. World Nos. 24 and 25 -- Peter Hanson and Ian Poulter -- are the top-ranked players at Binhai Lake Golf Club this week.
Former winner Paul Casey and former British Open champion Paul Lawrie will also be in the field this week.
Golf Channel will have tape-delayed coverage all week.
The European Tour has its final Asian event until November next week. Lee Westwood fended off Miguel Angel Jimenez by a single stroke last year to win the Ballantine's Championship.
CHAMPIONS TOUR
LIBERTY MUTUAL INSURANCE LEGENDS OF GOLF, Savannah Harbor Golf Resort, Savannah, Georgia - Reigning champions David Eger and Mark McNulty will be back this week to defend their title at the Liberty Mutual Insurance Legends of Golf.
Eger and McNulty fired an 11-under 61 in the final round to end alongside Scott Hoch and Kenny Perry. Eger and McNulty parred the second playoff hole to the title.
The duo will return to defend its title against 35 other teams.
CBS will cover the action all three rounds.
After a week off, the Champions Tour heads to Texas for the Insperity Championship. Brad Faxon won that title by a single stroke last October.
LPGA TOUR
LPGA LOTTE CHAMPIONSHIP, Ko Olina Golf Club, Kapolei, Hawaii - The LPGA Tour is in Hawaii this week for a new event, the LPGA LOTTE Championship.
With the tour heading to Alabama next week, this week's runs from Wednesday to Saturday.
This week's host course, Ko Olina Golf Club, previously hosted the LPGA Tour from 1990-95 and again from 2006-08.
There will be a strong field at Ko Olina as world No. 6 Sun Ju Ahn is the only player in the top 10 in the world not competing this week.
Golf Channel has coverage of all four rounds.
The tour heads to Alabama next week for the Mobile Bay LPGA Classic, where Maria Hjorth beat Song-Hee Kim by two strokes last year.
