Julia Goerges of Germany and Slovakia's Dominika Cibulkova were among the winners Thursday in the second round of the Barcelona Ladies Open.

Rain delayed some of Thursday's action and each of the five singles matches on the docket went the distance.

The second-seeded Goerges pulled out a 7-5, 5-7, 6-2 victory over Spanish wild card Garbine Muguruza Blanco and advanced to a Friday quarterfinal against Italy's Sara Errani, who won her second-round match on Wednesday.

Cibulkova, the third seed, rallied for a 5-7, 6-4, 6-4 triumph over Klara Zakopalova of the Czech Republic and will next meet Ukrainian qualifier Yuliya Beygelzimer, who took out fifth-seeded Italian Flavia Pennetta, 6-2, 6-7 (5-7), 6-4.

Olga Govortsova followed up her upset of top-seeded Francesca Schiavone with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-7 (6-8), 6-2 win over Spain's Laura Pous-Tio. The Belarusian will next meet Romania's Sorana Cirstea, who overcame a rough first set and moved on with a 1-6, 6-3, 6-1 victory over Spain's Lourdes Dominguez Lino.

Friday's remaining quarterfinal will feature Romania's Simona Halep against Spain's Carla Suarez Navarro. Both were second-round winners on Wednesday.

This week's winner will claim $37,000.
