Lake Forest, IL – The Chicago Bears agreed to a one-year contract extension with Pro Bowl linebacker Lance Briggs on Wednesday.
Terms of the deal, which runs through 2014, were not announced.
Briggs, 31, has played all nine of his NFL seasons for the Bears and made each of the last seven Pro Bowls to join Bill George, Dick Butkus and Mike Singletary -- all Hall of Famers -- as the only players at the position to accomplish the feat for Chicago.
Durable and consistent at the weakside position, Briggs has missed only four regular season games since the Bears drafted him in the third round in 2003 out of Arizona.
He had 105 tackles last season -- the seventh time he went over 100 -- forced two fumbles and had one interception. He has 965 tackles, 10.5 sacks, 13 picks and 14 forced fumbles in his career.
Bears general manager Phil Emery said signing Briggs to an extension was "a very positive step for our team in our efforts to win championships."
