New York, NY – For the second time in two weeks, New York Red Bulls forward Thierry Henry was named the Major League Soccer Player of the Week.
Henry claimed the honor in Week 3 after a two-goal, one-assist performance against the Colorado Rapids on March 25. And the Frenchman went one better in earning the Week 4 award, netting his first MLS hat trick to go along with one assist in a 5-2 win over the Montreal Impact on Saturday.
Henry scored one goal in the first half to help New York enter halftime level at 2-2 with Montreal. But he turned things up after the break, scoring two goals and assisting on another as the Red Bulls dominated the final 45 minutes.
The former Arsenal star becomes the first New York player to score a hat trick since Amado Guevara in 2006, and he leads MLS with five goals on the season.
