The Toronto Blue Jays signed pitcher Dustin McGowan to a two-year contract extension for the 2013 and 2014 seasons with a club option for 2015.

McGowan will earn $1.5 million in both 2013 and '14, with the option year worth $4 million.

The club's first round pick back in 2000 hadn't appeared in a game since 2008 due to two shoulder surgeries, but returned late last season and went 0-2 with a 6.43 earned run average in five games.

Over five MLB seasons, all with the Blue Jays, McGowan holds a career mark of 20-24 with a 4.80 ERA in 80 games (60 starts).
