The Chicago Blackhawks agreed to terms with year contract extension Monday.

Carcillo underwent successful season-ending surgery in January to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, and was expected to be fully recovered in six months.

The 26-year-old was hurt in a 4-3 loss to Edmonton on January 2 when he drove Oilers' defenseman Tom Gilbert face first into the end boards, sending both men to the ice in pain. Carcillo was hit with a five-minute boarding major, a game misconduct and a seven-game suspension for his actions.

Carcillo registered two goals, nine assists, 82 penalty minutes and a plus-10 rating in 28 games this season, his first with Chicago after two-plus years in Philadelphia.
