Renton, WA – Seattle Sounders FC signed goalie Andrew Weber on Friday.
The 28-year-old Weber began his career with D.C. United in 2005, spent three seasons with the Montreal Impact in the USL First Division from 2006-08, and was with the San Jose Earthquakes for last three seasons.
Although Weber has limited MLS experience, he played 29 regular season games for the Impact, who join MLS as an expansion team this season, and played one CONCACAF Champions League match.
"Andrew adds a goalkeeper who has had Champions League experience ... who has been in MLS for the last few years," said Sounders FC coach Sigi Schmid.
"Obviously our goalkeeping situation has changed dramatically from last year with Kasey Keller retiring and Terry Boss having to retire. We are happy with our goalkeepers, and adding Andrew Weber gives another capable keeper."
Michael Gspurning and Bryan Meredith are the other goalies on Seattle's squad.
Per MLS and club policy, terms were not disclosed.
Seattle hosts Mexico's Santos on Wednesday in the first leg of their CONCACAF Champions League quarterfinal series.
