Flyers F van Riemsdyk leaves game with broken bone in foot

Philadelphia Flyers forward James van Riemsdyk left Thursday's game against the New York Islanders and will not return.

Van Riemsdyk departed late in the first period after sliding on the ice to block a shot. He limped noticeably off the ice favoring his leg, and was later diagnosed with a broken bone in his left foot.

Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said the 22-year-old will be further evaluated by Dr. Steven Raikin on Friday.
