The Edmonton Oilers and Minnesota Wild swapped defensemen on Monday.

Heading to Alberta's capital is Nick Schultz, while Tom Gilbert's new home will be the Twin Cities.

Schultz, 29, has totaled one goal and three points but is a minus-10 in 62 games for Minnesota this season. Over 743 appearances with the Wild since 2001, the Saskatchewan native has recorded 26 goals and 128 points.

Gilbert, also 29, has racked up three goals and 17 points with a minus-4 rating in 47 games for the Oilers this year. In 384 games over six NHL seasons, all with Edmonton, the native of suburban Minneapolis has picked up 33 goals and 158 points.
