Dries Mertens converted a penalty in 1, to return to the Eredivisie summit Sunday.

AZ Alkmaar claimed first place Saturday with a 2-0 victory over Excelsior, but Mertens' 15th goal inside 10 minutes fueled PSV to an easy win and a spot back atop the standings on goal differential.

Mertens' 15th goal was followed by Toivonen's 12th in the 26th, and Matavz had his side up 3-0 in the 29th. Jeremain Lens added a fourth before halftime, and PSV easily held on to extend its league unbeaten streak to six games.

Gil Vermouth pulled a goal back after halftime for De Graafschap, stuck at the foot of the table with just 13 points from 20 matches.

Rajiv Van La Parra fired Heerenveen to its fourth successive victory, 1-0 over 10-man RKC Waalwijk on Sunday as it climbed to third in the table, five points behind PSV and AZ. RKC is 11th.

John Guidetti scored a hat trick as Feyenoord defeated Vitesse, 3-1, on Sunday to move into fourth and even with third-place Heerenveen on points. Guidetti's tied for second in the league with 17 goals. Vitesse is seventh.

Also Sunday, Lex Immers scored in the 43rd as Den Haag held Utrecht 1-1 on the road to remain one point above their foes in a clash of relegation-threatened side. Den Haag is 13th, followed by Utrecht in 14th.
