The top teams in the NHL are scheduled to go head-to-head this week on FOX Sports. The Pacific leading San Jose Sharks are scheduled to play three times, while the Central Division leading Detroit Red Wings are also scheduled three times, including a featured Sunday prime time match up against playoff rival San Jose. The Wings are no stranger to success and this franchise continues to play at a top level year to year. And this year's team is no exception with an offense that ranks in the top three in the league and a stingy defense that ranks in the top five. Center Pavel Datsyuk leads the team in scoring while goalie Jimmy Howard is holding the opposition to around two goals per game. That combination will account for a lot of wins this year and another trip to the playoffs as long as everyone stays healthy. Speaking of the playoffs, it's a good bet that once again the Wings will see the Sharks in what has become a heated playoff rivalry. The Sharks are a formidable squad led by the one-two punch of Patrick Marleau and Joe Thorton on offense. San Jose matches up well on defense with Detroit and this playoff preview game should be the highlight of the week.
