Lee Stempniak had his second career hat trick and added an assist to help the Calgary Flames rout the Edmonton Oilers 6-2 on Saturday night.

Blake Comeau and Jay Bouwmeester each had a goal and two assists, and Mikael Backlund also scored for Calgary. The Flames are 5-1-1 in their last seven games to improve to 23-20-6.

Andy Sutton and Ryan Smyth scored for Edmonton. The Oilers are 17-26-4. They have with only one win in their last nine games and just five of their last 25 outings.

Stempniak gave the Flames a 3-0 lead with 1:08 left in the first, beating goalie Nikolai Khabibulin with a wrist shot to the top corner. He added his second of the game with 36 seconds left in the second on a long, low shot that beat Khabibulin to the glove side.

Devan Dubnyk came in to replace Khabibulin in the Edmonton net to start the third.

Stempniak completed the hat trick with an empty-net goal with 2:05 to go. He has 12 goals this season.

NOTES: Calgary is 4-0 against Edmonton this season and has won nine in a row in the series and 16 of 17. ... Edmonton's Taylor Hall returned after taking 30 stitches above his left eye two games before in Columbus when he fell in the pregame warmup and took a skate from teammate Corey Potter. Both teams wore helmets in the pregame warmup in the wake of the accident.
