The Boston Red Sox have reportedly agreed to a year, minor league contract with pitcher Vicente Padilla.

MLB.com reported Monday that Padilla's contract is worth $1.5 million with performance-based bonuses that could make it as high as $4.5 million.

Padilla suffered through neck problems last season that eventually required surgery, limiting the 34-year-old to just nine appearances out of the bullpen for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

A starter for much of his career, he is 104-90 with a 4.31 earned run average in 330 games, including 237 starts.

Over his time in the majors, he has pitched for Arizona, Philadelphia, Texas and the Dodgers.
