Freestyle skier Sarah Burke, who has won four Winter X Games gold medals in superpipe, was in "serious" condition after a crash Tuesday.

Burke was injured while skiing in Park City, Utah, and had to be airlifted to a hospital, according to the Canadian Freestyle Ski Association.

The Vancouver Sun reported that a spokesperson for the organization wasn't clear what Burke's injuries were, but said "it is very serious."

The Canadian Freestyle Ski Association was awaiting news on Burke's condition, according to its Twitter account.
