Raleigh, NC – The Carolina Hurricanes announced that defenseman Joni Pitkanen underwent surgery on his left knee Tuesday.
Pitkanen, who had been out indefinitely with a concussion (last playing at Calgary on December 6), is expected to recover from the procedure in four weeks.
The 28-year-old Finn has registered three goals and nine assists in 21 games for the Hurricanes this season.
