New York, NY – St. Louis Blues defenseman Ian Cole was suspended three games for illegally checking Detroit Red Wings forward Justin Abdelkader in the head during Saturday night's game.
The incident occurred at 9:11 of the first period. A minor penalty for illegal check to the head was assessed on the play. The Red Wings beat the Blues, 3-0.
Cole will be eligible to return January 10 at Montreal.
