Florida State has signed head year contract extension through the 2016 season, the school announced prior to its Champs Sports Bowl game against Notre Dame on Thursday.

There was no change to the financial structure of the head coach's contract.

"I'm very grateful and very respectful," Fisher said. "Florida State is a job you want to stay at forever. The faith the university has in us, the program and the direction in which we are going, we feel very fortunate. We are committed to this and they are committed to this. We are very blessed and thankful to President [Eric] Barron, our athletic director Randy Spetman and our Board of Trustees for the extension. We're very excited about the future and where our program is going."

Fisher is in his second season with the Seminoles. Florida State heads into the Champs Sports Bowl with an 8-4 record.
