Alex Rodriguez Doing Well Post Knee & Shoulder Surgery

New York Yankees Sluger Alex Rodríguez is doing well after having surgery in Germany a few weeks back.

The third baseman had an operation done on his right knee and left shoulder.

Rodríguez, 36, had plasma-rich platelet injections following a recommendation from Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Wednesday that the team gave its permission after vetting the process.

Rodríguez's treatment was first reported by the New York Post.

Cashman says the therapy is in "complete compliance" with WADA and Major League Baseball regulations. He also said the treatment is performed in the United States.

The Yankees say Rodríguez went to the doctor in Germany because he's at the top of this field.

Rodríguez had surgery on his right knee last July and saw his power drop in the second half and postseason. He played in 99 games and hit 16 home runs. He has 629 career homers.

Cashman said Rodríguez is "100 percent" right now and that there are "no red flags" going into spring training. Cashman said he expects Rodríguez to be able to play every day.

Recently A-Rod split from his girlfriend, Hollywood star Cameron Díaz. The Yankees' third baseman told People magazine that the split was amicable.

"I have a lot of love for Cameron," Rodríguez told the entertainment publication. “We'll always be friends."

Rodríguez and Díaz began dating a year ago and were often spotted in warm embraces on Miami beaches and in New York City.

Last week US Weekly reported that the two were no longer an item after multiple false alarms that the two had broken up.
