Carolina Hurricanes forward Jeff Skinner and defenseman Joni Pitkanen have been diagnosed with concussions and will be out indefinitely, general manager Jim Rutherford announced Wednesday.

Skinner was listed as day-to-day after being injured in last Wednesday's win over the Edmonton Oilers. The 2011 Calder Trophy winner leads the Hurricanes in scoring, with 12 goals and 24 points.

Pitkanen last played in a December 6 loss to the Calgary Flames, and has three goals and 12 points this season.
