Dallas Stars defenseman Mark Fistric was suspended three games without pay for charging New York Islanders forward Nino Niederreiter on Wednesday.

The infraction occurred at the 6:08 mark of the first period on Saturday when Fistric left his feet in the action of hitting Niederreiter near the boards at center ice.

Niederreiter's head hit the ice because of the hit, resulting in a concussion. No penalty was assessed on the play.

Fistric will miss games against the San Jose Sharks on December 8, Los Angeles Kings on December 10 and a December 13 contest against the New York Rangers before being eligible to return on December 15 against the New York Islanders.

The five-year veteran has appeared in 20 games for the Stars this season with no points and a minus-two rating.
