The Pittsburgh Pirates signed catcher Jose Morales to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Morales appeared in 22 games with the Colorado Rockies last season before suffering a broken right thumb that knocked him out for the remainder of the season.
The 28-year-old switch-hitter has seen action in 96 career games with the Minnesota Twins and Colorado, batting .289 with a .365 on-base percentage, 12 doubles and 21 RBI.
