The Oakland Raiders signed veteran cornerback Lito Sheppard to a contract Monday.

Sheppard spent time in the Raiders training camp this year and recorded three tackles in the preseason finale against the Seahawks before being cut prior to Week 1.

The Raiders' secondary has been hampered by injuries to cornerbacks Chris Johnson (groin, hamstring) and Chimdi Chekwa (hamstring), who have not played since Weeks 3 and 4, respectively.

Sheppard, 30, has recorded 302 tackles and 19 interceptions in nine seasons as a part of the Eagles, Jets and Vikings.

He posted 18 tackles in 13 games last season in Minnesota.
