Fred Couples fired a 10-under 62 on shot lead after the second round of the AT&T Championship.

Couples finished 36 holes with a new tournament record of 17-under 127, besting Mark McNulty's mark of 130 from seven years ago. Couples matched the course record at the TPC San Antonio with his 62 as he's in great position for his second win this year on the Champions Tour and the sixth of his career.

Mark Calcavecchia posted a respectable six-under 66 on Saturday, but is well behind at 10-under 134. Nick Price carded a three-under 69 and is third at nine-under par, only eight shots behind Couples.

This is the last full-field event on the Champions Tour, and players are jockeying for position for the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship in three weeks. Only the top 30 money leaders make the field and those on the bubble acquitted themselves nicely on Saturday.

Tom Pernice, Jr. is in the 30th position and shot an eight-under 64 on Saturday to move up 47 spots into a tie for 19th at six-under 138.

Bob Gilder is 31st and his seven-under 65 in the second round jumped him up 38 places to a share of 28th at minus-four.

The Champions Tour's leading money winner, Tom Lehman, John Cook, Peter Senior and Scott Simpson each posted rounds of five-under 67 on Saturday and are tied for fourth at eight-under 136.
