BERLIN (Reuters) - The Buffalo Sabres made it two wins from two games with a 4-2 victory over the Los Angeles Kings Saturday in the first NHL regular-season contest to be played in Germany.
After a goalless first period in front of a pro-Buffalo 15,000 crowd in Berlin's O2 indoor arena, left wing Luke Adam scored twice early in the second session to put the Sabres in the driving seat.
Paul Gaustad added another by deflecting in a pass from Nathan Gerbe for a three-goal cushion with 6:41 to go in the second period.
The Kings, who won their season opener against the New York Rangers in overtime in Stockholm Friday, pulled one back with 39 seconds to go in the period as Anze Kopitar grabbed a powerplay goal.
Drew Stafford scored on the rebound to restore Buffalo's three-goal advantage with 16:02 left.
Slovenian Kopitar again kept the Kings afloat with his third goal in two games, a backhand past netminder Ryan Miller after a Justin Williams pass.
The Sabres had won their opening game against the Anaheim Ducks in Helsinki Friday as the NHL celebrated the new season in grand style with games on both sides of the Atlantic.
