The Colorado Avalanche placed three players on injured reserve Wednesday.

Right wing Brandon Yip will miss the beginning of the season with an arm injury, while center Mark Olver (head) and defenseman Kyle Cumiskey (groin) also landed on IR.

Yip has registered 23 goals and 18 assists in 103 games -- all with Colorado.

Olver spent the majority of the last season with Lake Erie of the American Hockey League, producing two goals and nine points in 18 games for the Avalanche.

Cumiskey played in only 18 games with Colorado in 2010-11 due to injuries, collecting one goal and seven assists.

The Avalanche open the regular season at home against Detroit on Saturday.
