Ray Emery has won the backup goaltending job year contract on Monday.

The 29-year-old Emery played in 10 games (nine starts) with the Ducks last season, recording a 7-2-0 mark and 2.28 GAA.

Emery is a veteran of 173 career regular-season games over parts of seven NHL seasons with the Ottawa Senators, Philadelphia Flyers and Ducks and owns a 94-53-0 record with a 2.67 GAA.

Originally selected by Ottawa in the fourth round (99th overall) of the 2001 draft, Emery has also posted 20 wins in 36 career appearances in the playoffs, which includes backstopping the Senators to the 2007 Stanley Cup Finals.

Chicago assigned goaltender Alexander Salak to the American Hockey League's Rockford IceHogs. Salak was acquired by Chicago, along with forward Michael Frolik, in a trade with the Florida Panthers on February 9.
