Kansas City Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer was named the American League Rookie of the Month for September.

Hosmer, who also won the award for July, had seven doubles, five home runs, a .557 slugging percentage, .360 on-base percentage and 19 RBI in 25 games during September. He led A.L. rookies with 37 hits and 21 runs scored.

The left-handed slugger collected 11 multi-hit games during the month, including a 5-for-5 performance in a 10-2 victory over the Detroit Tigers on September 20th at Kauffman Stadium.

Other players receiving votes included Hosmer's teammates Salvador Perez and Mike Moustakas, Chicago White Sox third baseman Brent Morel, Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Jeremy Hellickson, Oakland Athletics second baseman Jemile Weeks, Baltimore Orioles right-hander Pedro Strop and Minnesota Twins infielder Trevor Plouffe.
