Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson will be facing a number of injury issues ahead of his team's Champions League match with FC Basel at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

Strikers Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez will both miss the match while defenders Jonny Evans (ankle), Chris Smalling (groin) and Nemanja Vidic (calf) seem unlikely to feature as well.

Rooney missed Saturday's 1-1 draw with Stoke City after injuring his hamstring in training, while Hernandez started the match but left because of a leg problem.

Ferguson will now call upon Danny Welbeck, Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen up top, while Antonio Valencia could feature at right back because of the injuries in defense.
