Once again, Lexi Thompson has a lead at the Navistar LPGA Classic.

The 16-year-old shot a 4-under 68 Friday to reach 10-under 134 and is two shots ahead of Stacy Lewis and Becky Morgan at the Robert Trent Jones Trail's Capitol Hill complex.

"I'm playing smart and just making birdies," Thompson said. "I'm just trying to do my best. That's all I can do."

Thompson, who started the day on the 10th tee, was 4 under on her front nine. She bogeyed the par-3 No. 7 before a birdie at No. 8.

Thompson was tied for the second-round lead as a 14-year-old in 2009 before she finished 27th. Last year, as a professional, she was 16th.

"I remember teeing off like in the last few groups, but I don't remember really how I played," Thompson said. "I don't know. I just love playing here."

Meena Lee, who came within one shot of a tournament record with an 8-under 64, is three strokes back at 7-under 137.

Giulia Sergas, Hee Kyung Seo and first-round leader Jennifer Johnson are tied at 138.

"Every day, every tournament is just a learning experience," said Johnson, who shot a 1-over 73 Friday.

"Being at the top of the leaderboard, that's new for me. Hopefully, I can end the year with a couple more on top of the leaderboard."

Lewis shot a second-straight 4-under 68 Friday and is in position for a fourth straight top-10 finish. She has one victory and two runner-up finishes this year.

"My friends are like, 'We're not going to tell you that you're playing well anymore. We're tired of hearing it,'" Lewis said. "But it's so nice to be there. It's getting comfortable there.

"I think the more I'm there, the more comfortable I'm going to be, especially coming down the stretch on Sunday."

Morgan birdied No. 9, her final hole, for a 3-under 69.

Lee reached 9 under with three straight birdies on Nos. 14-16, but an errant drive led to a bogey on the par-5 17th.
